Pedigree

Broadway’s Alibi is by undefeated champion Vindication out of the Seeking the Gold mare Broadway Gold, herself a stakes winner.

Broadway Gold is a daughter of Miss Doolittle, a Storm Cat mare who counts champion Eliza as her dam. Miss Doolittle was Grade 2-placed on track and would go on in the breeding shed to produce last year’s Florida Derby winner Dialed In.

Vindication has done well when mixed with the Storm Bird bloodline. Frolic’s Revenge, whose dam is a daughter of Summer Squall, is a dual stakes winner who opened 2012 with a third in the Sweetest Chant Stakes at Gulfstream. Stakes heroine Crisis of Spirit is out of a Storm Cat mare, while dual Grade 3-placed stakes victor Vengeful Wildcat’s dam is by a son of Storm Cat.

Vindication’s offspring show an average winning distance of 6.9 furlongs, but have won up to two miles. Seeking the Gold’s progeny have won up to three miles while averaging 7.3 furlongs. Both sires were Grade 1 winners at nine furlongs or longer.

Broadway’s Alibi has dominated her past three races at sprint distances, and should relish the stretch out in ground. She is a half-sister to the Bernardini filly R Gypsy Gold, who broke her maiden by 7 ½ lengths last year at 1 1/16 miles before going on to run third in the Mother Goose and capture the Real Prize Stakes, both at 8 ½ furlongs.
